Compounding lab
When a regular medicine does not work for you.
A child who cannot swallow pills. An allergy to a dye. A cat who refuses every tablet. With your doctor’s or veterinarian’s prescription, our pharmacists can prepare a medicine made just for you or your pet.
Compounded medicines are not FDA-approved. Your prescriber decides whether one is right for you.
Do I need a prescription for a compounded medication?
Yes. Every compounded preparation requires a valid prescription from a licensed prescriber or, for animals, a veterinarian.
How can my prescriber send a prescription?
By e-prescribing to Cambria, through Cambria’s prescriber portal once it is live, or by fax or phone where Pennsylvania law allows. The Send a Prescription page has the details your prescriber needs.
How do I transfer a prescription to Cambria?
Call or visit the pharmacy with your current pharmacy’s name and the medication, and we will handle the rest. Online transfer requests will be added when our patient app is active.
Will my insurance cover a compounded medication?
Coverage for compounded preparations varies widely by plan and is often limited. A pharmacist can check your coverage when the prescription arrives.
Do you accept Medicare and Medicaid?
Cambria bills Medicare and Medicaid. Coverage of a specific medication depends on your plan, so ask the pharmacist when you fill.
Which vaccines do you give?
Flu and COVID-19 vaccines are available now. More recommended vaccines are launching, and the Vaccines page shows the status of each one. Call ahead to check availability, and bring your insurance card.

Storing and Handling Compounded Medications
Compounded preparations carry a beyond-use date and storage directions specific to the formulation. Follow the label, not habit.

Oral Liquids for Children: Questions to Ask
When a child cannot swallow pills, a compounded liquid may help. Measuring accurately and storing correctly are what make it work.
Veterinary Compounding
Flavored Medications for Pets: Helpful, With Limits
A flavor an animal accepts can make the difference between a missed dose and a finished course. The right flavor depends on the species.
For prescribers and veterinarians
Nonsterile compounding for prescribers across specialties, launching with pediatric oral suspensions. Talk to the compounding pharmacist directly.
